Alameda Santa Rita Jail Unannouced LTR (2023-2024 inspection cycle)

May 9, 2023 Yesenia Sanchez, Sheriff Alameda County Sheriff’s Office 5325 Broder Blvd. Dublin, Ca 94568 2023 UNANNOUNCED INSPECTION, PENAL CODE 6031, ALAMEDA COUNTY JAIL, TYPE II FACILITY Dear Sheriff Sanchez: Pursuant to Penal Code Section 6031(b), on May 8, 2023, the Board of State and Community Corrections (BSCC) staff conducted an unannounced inspection of the Santa Rita Jail. The focus of the unannounced inspection was to verify continued compliance with Sections 1260, Standard Institutional Clothing, 1265, Issue of Personal Care Items, and 1272, Mattresses, of Title 15 of the California Code of Regulations (CCR), Minimum Standards for Local Detention Facilities. INSPECTION RESULTS The inspection consisted of a site visit, conversations with facility staff, and a physical inspection of clothing items, hygiene kits, personal hygiene items for menstruating persons, and mattresses. There were no items of noncompliance. No Corrective Action Plan is required at this time. I would like to thank the knowledgeable staff at the facility for their assistance.
