February 26, 2026 Yesenia Sanchez, Sheriff-Coroner Alameda County Sheriff’s Office 1401 Lakeside Drive, 12th Floor Oakland, CA 94612 2025-2026 UNANNOUNCED INSPECTION, PENAL CODE SECTION 6031, WELFARE & INSTITUTIONS CODE SECTION 209, ALAMEDA COUNTY SANTA RITA DETENTION FACILITY Dear Sheriff Sanchez: An Unannounced Inspection of the Alameda County Sheriff's Office was completed for the following facility on February 20, 2026: FACILITY NAME BSCC # FACILITY TYPE Santa Rita Jail 0065 II This inspection was conducted pursuant to Penal Code Section 6031 to determine compliance with the Minimum Standards for Local Detention Facilities as outlined in Titles 15 and 24, California Code of Regulations. INSPECTION RESULTS The focus of the Unannounced Inspection was to evaluate continued compliance with Title 15 Minimum Standards, Section 1027.5 Safety Checks. The inspection consisted of documentation review of a random sample of housing unit safety check logs dated between December 2025 and February 2026. Board of State and Community Corrections (BSCC) staff found that the facility staff conducted the vast majority of safety checks within 60 minutes of the previous safety check, demonstrating continued compliance with this regulation. We identified no items of noncompliance with Title 15 Minimum Standards. An email with the inspection results was sent to your staff on Friday, February 20, 2026.
