Clay Street Independence, CA 93526 2025-2026 COMPREHENSIVE INSPECTION, PENAL CODE SECTION 6031, WELFARE & INSTITUTIONS CODE SECTION 209, INYO COUNTY DETENTION FACILITY Dear Sheriff Rennie: The 2025-2026 Comprehensive Inspection of the Inyo County Sheriff's Office has been completed. A pre-inspection briefing was held on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, and the following facility was inspected on Wednesday, August 6, 2025: FACILITY NAME BSCC # FACILITY TYPE Inyo County Jail 0985 II These inspections were conducted pursuant to Penal Code Section 6031 to determine compliance with the Minimum Standards for Local Detention Facilities as outlined in Titles 15 and 24, California Code of Regulations. In addition to inspection(s) by the Board of State and Community Corrections (BSCC), inspections are also required annually by the County Health Officer and biennially by the State Fire Marshal or an authorized representative (Health and Safety Code Sections 101045 and 13146.1). The results of those inspections are considered a part of this report. Referencing the Inyo County Jail, all County Health Officer and Biennial State Fire Marshal Inspections are up to date. INSPECTION RESULTS We identified the following item of noncompliance with Title 15 Minimum Standards: 0985 Inyo County Jail Title 15 Section 1056 Use of Sobering Cell: Safety checks are not consistently being conducted no less than every half hour. Refer to the attached Procedures Checklist for detailed information.
