October 14, 2025 Jamie Scardina, Sheriff-Coroner Marin County Sheriff's Office 1600 Los Gamos Drive, Suite 200 San Rafael, CA 94903 2025-2026 UNANNOUNCED INSPECTION, PENAL CODE SECTION 6031, WELFARE & INSTITUTIONS CODE SECTION 209, MARIN COUNTY DETENTION FACILITY Dear Sheriff Scardina, An Unannounced Inspection of the Marin County Sheriff's Office was completed for the following facility on Tuesday, August 26, 2025: FACILITY NAME BSCC # FACILITY TYPE Marin County Jail 3010 II This inspection was conducted pursuant to Penal Code Section 6031 to determine compliance with the Minimum Standards for Local Detention Facilities as outlined in Title 15, California Code of Regulations. INSPECTION RESULTS The focus of the Unannounced Inspection was to evaluate the following §1260 STANDARD INSTITUTIONAL CLOTHING: Board of State and Community Corrections (BSCC) staff inspected the inventory of standard-issue clothing, which was clean and free of holes and tears. BSCC staff determined that the agency was compliant with this regulation. §1265 ISSUE OF PERSONAL CARE ITEMS: BSCC staff inspected the inventory of personal care items provided to each individual housed in the facility. All items provided met the requirements under this regulation. §1270 STANDARD BEDDING AND LINEN: BSCC staff inspected the inventory of standard bedding. Individuals being housed are provided with a mattress cover, sheet, towel, and wool blanket prior to housing. BSCC staff determined that the agency was compliant with this regulation. Jamie Scardina Sheriff-Coroner Page 2 §1280- FACILITY SANITATION, SAFETY, AND MAINTENANCE: BSCC staff found the facility clean and in good order. We identified no items of noncompliance with Title 15 Minimum Standards. An Exit Briefing with your staff was held on Tuesday, August 26, 2025; BSCC staff presented an inspection overview and discussed technical assistance and best practice recommendations.
