2023 UNANNOUNCED INSPECTION, PENAL CODE 6031, MARIPOSA COUNTY JAIL
(TYPE II FACILITY)
Dear Sheriff Briese,
Pursuant to Penal Code section 6031 (b), on December 14, 2023, the Board of State and
Community Corrections (BSCC) staff conducted an unannounced inspection of the
Mariposa County Jail. The focus of the unannounced inspection was to verify continued
compliance with sections 1027.5 Safety Checks and 1032 Fire Suppression Preplanning
of Title 15 of the California Code of Regulations (CCR), Minimum Standards for Local
Detention Facilities.
INSPECTION RESULTS
Title 15, CCR Minimum Standards
The inspection consisted of a documentation review of the last six months of monthly fire
prevention inspections and a random selection of housing unit safety checks from the
month of October 2023. During the review, we found no items of noncompliance.
CORRECTIVE ACTION PLAN (CAP)
No items of noncompliance were identified during the unannounced inspection for Title
15, Minimum Standards for Local Detention Facilities, and no CAP is required.
