December 22, 2025 Jeremy Briese, Sheriff-Coroner Mariposa County Sheriff's Office 5099 Old Highway "N" Mariposa, CA 95338 2025-2026 UNANNOUNCED INSPECTION, PENAL CODE SECTION 6031, WELFARE & INSTITUTIONS CODE SECTION 209, MARIPOSA COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE ADULT DETENTION FACILITY Dear Sheriff Briese: An Unannounced Inspection of the Mariposa County Sheriff's Office was completed for the following facility on October 02, 2025: FACILITY NAME BSCC # FACILITY TYPE Mariposa Co. Adult Detention Facility 3090 II This inspection was conducted pursuant to Penal Code Section 6031 to determine compliance with the Minimum Standards for Local Detention Facilities as outlined in Titles 15 and 24, California Code of Regulations. INSPECTION RESULTS The focus of the Unannounced Inspection was to evaluate continued compliance with Title 15, Section 1056, Use of Sobering Cell. BSCC staff requested documentation of any use of the sobering cell between May and September 2025. Agency supervision provided documentation of one placement that took place on May 3, 2025. Based on the documentation review, BSCC staff found the justification for placement notes, and the safety checks were in compliance with this regulation.
