A pre-inspection briefing was held on Tuesday, July 2, 2024, and the following facilities were inspected on Tuesday, August 27, 2024: FACILITY NAME BSCC # FACILITY TYPE Santa Cruz County Jail 5280 II Santa Cruz Rountree Lane Facility 5300 II Santa Cruz Blaine St. Facility 5320 II These inspections were conducted pursuant to Penal Code Section 6031 to determine compliance with the Minimum Standards for Local Detention Facilities as outlined in Titles 15 and 24, California Code of Regulations. INSPECTION RESULTS We identified no new items of noncompliance with Title 15 Minimum Standards; see “Follow-Up Inspection Results” below for items of noncompliance found during the 2023 Comprehensive Inspection. Refer to the attached Procedures Checklist for detailed information. No items of noncompliance were identified with Title 24 Minimum Standards. Refer to the Physical Plant Evaluation and Living Area Space Evaluation attachments for information related to Rated Capacity. An Exit Briefing with your staff was held on Tuesday, August 27, 2024; BSCC staff presented an inspection overview and discussed technical assistance and best practice recommendations. FOLLOW-UP INSPECTION RESULTS During the Targeted Inspection, BSCC staff conducted follow-up on three items of noncompliance found during the 2023 Comprehensive Inspection. Therefore, the facility remains noncompliant with this regulation. 1231.2.9 Dayrooms At the Main Jail, triple bunks are still being used in some housing unit dayrooms, resulting in an insufficient amount of square footage and not enough showers, toilets, and washbasins to support the number of beds present.
