Johnson, Sheriff Shasta County Sheriff's Office 300 Park Marina Circle Redding, CA 96001 2023-2024 UNANNOUNCED INSPECTION, PENAL CODE SECTION 6031, SHASTA COUNTY TYPE II MAIN JAIL Dear Sheriff Johnson: An Unannounced Inspection of the Shasta County Sheriff's Office was completed for the following facility on August 21, 2024: FACILITY NAME BSCC # FACILITY TYPE Shasta County Main Jail 5360 II This inspection was conducted pursuant to Penal Code Section 6031 to determine compliance with the Minimum Standards for Local Detention Facilities as outlined in Titles 15, California Code of Regulations. INSPECTION RESULTS The focus of the Unannounced Inspection was to evaluate Title 15 sections 1044 Incident Reports, 1041 Records, 1046 Death in Custody, 1056 Use of Sobering Cell, 1240 Frequency of Serving, 1260 Standard Institutional Clothing, and 1265 Issue of Personal Care Items. After reviewing your death in custody policy, a sampling of documentation of incident reports, custody records, sobering cell justifications, completing an inspection of clothing/bedding issues, issuing of personal care items, conducting interviews with staff and people housed at the facility on when meals were served, BSCC staff identified no items of noncompliance with Title 15 Minimum Standards.
