2024 UNANNOUNCED INSPECTION OF THE TEHAMA COUNTY TYPE II JAIL,
PENAL CODE SECTION 6031, WELFARE & INSTITUTIONS CODE SECTION 209
Dear Sheriff Kain:
On February 1, 2024, Board of State and Community Corrections (BSCC) staff conducted
an unannounced inspection of the Tehama County Jail. The focus of the inspection was
to verify compliance with Title 15 Minimum Standards For Local Detention Facilities
sections 1055, Use of a Safety Cell, 1263, Clothing Supply, and 1265, Issue of Personal
Care Items.
INSPECTION RESULTS
Title 15, CCR Minimum Standards
The inspection consisted of a site visit, a walkthrough of the intake area, and interviews
with administration staff. BSCC staff also reviewed a random sampling of safety cell
reports and inspected clothing and hygiene items being issued to people before housing.
During the onsite inspection, we found no items of noncompliance with Title 15 of the
California Code of Regulations (CCR), Minimum Standards for Local Detentions Facilities
sections we inspected.
