This document presents all monitored and closed cases during this period. OIG Case Number Rating Assessment 23-0064710-INQ Satisfactory Case Summary On September 21, 25, and 29, 2023, a librarian allegedly told an incarcerated person that she would never allow a second incarcerated person to work in the library because she did not like the second incarcerated person. The librarian also allegedly engaged in unprofessional conduct by sharing her personal problems with incarcerated persons. Case Disposition During the inquiry, the investigator discovered potential staff misconduct identified in the Allegation Decision Index, suspended the inquiry, and referred the matter to the Office Internal Affairs’ Allegation Investigation Unit, which accepted the case for investigation. Overall Inquiry Assessment Overall, the department performed satisfactorily. OIG Case Number Rating Assessment 23-0062808-INQ Satisfactory Case Summary On July 2, 2023, a sergeant allegedly ignored and refused to investigate an incarcerated person’s safety concerns and returned the incarcerated person to a general population yard where he would continue to have safety concerns. Case Disposition The Office of Internal Affairs’ Allegation Investigation Unit manager suspended the inquiry and referred it to the Office of Internal Affairs’ Allegation Investigation Unit after the investigator discovered the two subject officers and a third officer engaged in potential misconduct identified on the Allegation Decision Index. The OIG concurred and did not monitor the investigation after the manager referred the case. Overall Inquiry Assessment The department performed satisfactorily. OIG Case Number Rating Assessment 23-0062768-INQ Satisfactory Case Summary On Augusts 22, 2023, an officer allegedly conducted a cell search improperly and damaged an incarcerated person’s personal property during the search. Case Disposition The hiring authority conducted an inquiry and found insufficient evidence to sustain the allegation. Overall Inquiry Assessment Overall, the department performed satisfactorily.
